ABOUT ME

Thanks for visiting my site! I'm Sheri Plath and I've been passionately teaching language for 19 years with an emphasis on speaking proficiency. I love creating materials to get my students speaking in meaningful interactions that prepare them for real-world situations. That's why we learn language, right?

I'm a curriculum nerd and love to see how a program transforms when the focus is on student speaking for at least 50% of each class. I had the pleasure of working with Greg Duncan while developing curriculum at the American School of Dubai. French, Spanish and Arabic all on the same page - it can be done and we shared resources!!!

Over the years, I've taught K-5 Spanish, 9-12 Spanish all levels including AP Spanish Language and Culture, IB DP Language B (SL, HL, ab initio) and MYP. While on a Fulbright teacher exchange in Osorno, Chile I taught 8-12 ESOL and I'm excited for my next position as the ESOL teacher at the American School of Guatemala for the 2019-2020 and 2020-2021 school years! I've taught in public schools in Arizona (Peoria Unified School District, Dysart Unified Schools) and Georgia (Marietta City Schools, Gwinnett County Public Schools) and private schools internationally (Gyeonggi Suwon International School in Korea, American School of Dubai and Osorno College in Chile). Do we have any teaching experience in common?

My initial interest in Spanish language and Hispanic cultures has led to a lifelong passion for travel. I'm lucky to have had the most amazing experiences while living and teaching overseas! There's not a corner of this world that I don't want to explore! I'm thrilled to be moving to Central America and look forward to bringing you lots of great content from the region.
